Singer at Heart Clinical Coordinator
Singer at Heart
Abegail is the kind of person who puts her heart and soul into work – and she also lets it shine on stage. At a young age, she fell in love with music and singing, and she pursued that passion in everything from school activities to pageants. Even today, she's driven to do her best work whether she's singing on stage or entering data as one of our clinical coordinators. It takes significant effort, skill and dedication to work with the numbers that affect a patient's care, and she enjoys her work as much as she enjoys the team around her. As she told us, "When you put your all into something – for the benefit of someone else - it shows just how much you value that person." And that's music to our ears.

Studier of Vedic Philosophy
Associate Director, Analytics
Abhay is comfortable with questions. So comfortable, you could say he surrounds himself with questions at work and in his personal time. In studying Vedic Philosophy, he explores answers to the greatest unanswered questions in life; it ignites his curiosity, delight and wonder in the universe. He applies that same sense of inquiry and wonder in his role as Associate Director of Analytics at Optum, art of the UnitedHealth Group family of businesses. There’s no definitive path when it comes to solving complex health care problems at work, and he appreciates the freedom to formulate new approaches every day. Studying Vedic Philosophy has given him the tools to question, argue and learn, and we’re glad he’s chosen to bring that same passion to work with us.

Philanthropist & Life-Changer
Director of Strategic Growth and Development
Imagine if you had the opportunity to improve people's lives - not just through your job, but also with endeavors outside of work. Adriana was lucky enough to find herself improving lives in her job at UnitedHealth Group, and even more blessed when she founded Anderi International, a non-profit that assists people with disabilities in Mexico. Using her talents to better lives comes naturally to Adriana – whether she applies her background in international trade or her ability to build teams around a common goal. She's amassed a group of volunteers who assist the foundation in the same way - wholeheartedly, without reservation, and without compensation. Unless you count their tears of joy when they see the foundation at work.
Violinist Administrative Assistant
It sounds like a contradiction: getting lost in music, while playing in tune with an orchestra. But when Ana describes her passion for the violin it makes perfect sense. For her, every note exists in itself and every performance is a unique moment in time. It makes the music all the more meaningful, and her relationship with the violin all the more precious. She brings the same reverence and dedication to the job of helping bring the right talent to the company. She stays focused on her own task while working with the team to ensure a seamless process and sound results. Telling a candidate they've got the job? It's music to her ears.
Dragon Boat Racer Utilization Management Nurse
Dragon Boat Racer
Utilization Management Nurse
One thing you can't help noticing at a dragon boat race: the strong, steady drumbeats setting the pace for each team. The rhythmic pounding is critical to synchronizing the paddlers' strokes and guiding them to peak performance. So we're not surprised to hear Anthony make frequent comparisons between his passion for dragon boat racing and his job with UnitedHealth Group. Teamwork is vital to both, he says, and the best part of his job is working with people. Whether he's on the dragon boat or at work, he appreciates being part of a large group where he can also benefit from the experiences of different individuals. For Anthony, happiness isn't about marching to the beat of a different drummer. It's about finding the beat that unites us all.
Roller Derby Queen Director of Vision Provider Data and Credentialing
Roller Derby Queen
Director of Vision Provider Data and Credentialing
As Angel describes it, one minute she's at her job working in provider data, and the next she's at roller derby sizing up her opponents. Skating under the name Ela Trick, Angel knows the first maneuver won't always be a success, but the team will always come together for another try. So whether she's in the rink or at the office, she's channeling her leadership abilities and keeping the pace. Because no matter what the end goal, teamwork is the best way to get there.

Army Veteran & Non-Profit Board Member
Arthur's work as a portfolio director within UnitedHealthcare Military & Veterans is testament to his sense of responsibility and integrity. A veteran himself, he's a natural advocate for active duty military members, veterans and their families. His dedication runs deep, but it's also personal. Outside of work, he devotes significant time and resources to the NAMES foundation, his family's non-profit organization founded to honor his cousin killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Music & Adventures Associate Lead
Music & Adventures
One of Ashutosh's proudest moments was when he competed in a reality music show for television and placed 5th out of 100,000 participants. He tells us it was just as exhilarating when he landed the interview for his dream job at UnitedHealth Group. We're not surprised to hear that music and work represent equally important moments for him. Both have proven to be opportunities for lifelong learning as well as personal accomplishment. And since joining UnitedHealth Group, he's found a place where he's empowered to pursue both passions to their fullest.
Adventurous Snorkeler Senior Operational Trainer
Senior Operational Trainer
For some people, there's nothing more intimidating than being in a large group of strangers. For Bette, that's just part of the job—and she thrives in it. As a senior operational trainer, she's literally on the front line when it comes to welcoming and getting to know new employees at UnitedHealth Group. Her skills for adapting to diverse personalities and helping people feel comfortable bears many similarities to her passion for snorkeling. When she describes her adventures drifting through colorful assortments of sea creatures, it's easy to get caught up in her sense of wonder and appreciation for them. For Bette, venturing into the unknown leads to beautiful results and new connections. She finds it inspiring, and that's what we find inspiring about her.
